Study #10: Disciples of Christ

"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.'"

Matthew 28:18-20, RSV

I know that this passage is controversial to some, but why is it controversial? It was Jesus who said it... not man.

Jesus not only taught us how to become disciples, but how to live as disciples. He also reminded His apostles by whose authority this commandment was given.

But, why is it so important to be a disciple of Christ? Because disciples of Christ... are Christians.

"and in Antioch the disciples were for the first time called Christians."

Acts 11:26, RSV

I pray that your study is going well. Today is the 10th day of the study and includes the 28th chapter of Matthew and the first two chapters of Mark.
