Is America Worth Saving?
Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city. Day and night they prowl about its walls; malice and abuse are within it. Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets.
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Psalms 55: 9-11; 16, NIV (1978)
Violence. Wickedness. Malice, Abuse, Destruction, Threats. Lies. Sound familiar? As I write this on June 14, 2025, there are protests going on in over 100 cities across America. They are touted as "mostly peaceful" but try and tell that to the three police in Austin who had to go to the hospital for treatment. Tell it to the owners of the cars that have been set on fire and destroyed. Tell it to the hundreds of business owners whose businesses have been broken into, looted and burned. I don't think they could care less that 95% of the activities are without violence, if the other 5% are.
This event is advertised as a "No Kings" rally. It is financed by mostly anonymous people in positions of power who do not like the fact that their power has been threatened by law and order. It is attended by a large number of sincere people who quite frankly do not like the current President, but it is also attended by paid rioters, men and women who are earning between a few hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars a day to show up. The advertisements for these people have been thinly veiled offers of employment for those who do not mind breaking the law. Presumably, the more violent a person is willing to be, the more they get paid.
At the heart of the protest is the fact that there are millions of aliens who have come into our country who really do not want to go back to where they came from. Neither do the politicians who are counting on them to keep them in power. Our President ran on a promise to deport illegals, and the majority of the people voted for him to do just that. But in the America of the 21st century, people no longer accept losing - especially those who have broken laws and are now facing the consequences. I saw news footage yesterday of a Department of Immigration raid on a plant in Nebraska where numerous people blocked the raid by throwing rocks and impeding traffic. Apparently, law enforcement was told to stand down, for the footage showed law enforcement vehicles being pelted with rocks and when the officers got out to confront the criminals they were cursed at and spat upon. The officer's response was to get back into the vehicles.
There have been literally thousands of similar incidents occurring all week, and the message is clear. If you are in a state that is complicit with the activities of these illegals, it is law enforcement and the innocent public who are at risk and not the criminals.
All this causes me to wonder, is America worth saving anymore? The ideals that this nation was founded upon such as truth, honor and justice, have been replaced by leaders who are in positions of authority, (often by questionable methods) who support deceit, perversion and open crime. This nation no longer resembles the one that was founded by noble men and women but instead appears to be a country in which the highest bidder gets what they desire. I have watched with sadness and disappointment the prosecutions of legal demonstrators during the past five years, and the support of criminals in the illegal gatherings.
And our nation that was founded firmly upon God's commandments is now ruled by people who seem under the direct control of the devil.
And, let me tell you, Satan's servants are mad!
What can be done? Well, King David apparently experienced similar obstacles during his lifetime. He witnessed a king whom he had valiantly served, turn on him with fury. When David fled to the Jewish priests for assistance, the king had the entire town where the priests lived put to the sword. It was David who wrote the passage you see above. It was David who bemoaned the fact that the cities were filled with wickedness, malice, abuse, lies and destruction. But it was also David who turned to God for help.
And God helped him!
Fast forward to today when our problems seem to mirror Israel's problems some 3,000 years ago. When all seemed lost in David's time, righteous people turned to God and were rescued!
Now, back to our original question, "Is America worth saving?" The answer lies in the choice the righteous people will have to make, for the wicked people have already chosen their side. If righteous people will turn to God, in repentance and humility, then I would have to say that America is indeed worth saving. But, if we have become so weak and so entrenched within our sin that we refuse to repent, then I would have to say we are not worth saving.
When Joshua stood before the people of his time, he told them to choose. The choice was between the idols of their age and the LORD God Almighty. Joshua stated that as for he and his house, they would choose the LORD! But the majority of the people chose Satan's side, and Israel had it to go through for quite a sum of years. You and I and our households must choose the Lord, but that may not be enough, for the rest of our nation may be too firmly enslaved by the devil they have chosen to serve. It will be up to us to repent and humbly entreat God for His help, this much is true. However, it will be up to God Himself to determine if there are enough righteous people left in America to be deemed worthy of saving. I believe that we must all make a choice, and we better do it now.
The rest we can leave up to God. He will make the right decision, and we can ask for no more than that. Personally, I don't think we have that much time left. Since that is the case, we better get to work. God will always do His part. The only question is, will we do ours?
