"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

John 16:33, NIV

In this world you will have trouble. Jesus said it, but we always seem surprised when trouble comes.

When we are young we have so many responsibilities and challenges. At school we always have something to study, something to catch up on. We have problems with our friends and problems with our enemies depending on what day it is. On top of that, we have our parents who are always seeming to meddle in our business. Add that to our pesky brothers and sisters and we just can't wait to get out of the house and be on our own where we can have our own places and be our own bosses and dream our own big dreams.

Then the worst thing that could possibly happen, happens: We do move out and have our own places and become our own bosses. At first the freedom is incredible and we are living the dream... then reality sets in - the bills. And the job. And we struggle to get by and we think that we cannot wait to get married, but when we do find the person of our dreams, we find out that they have problems too.

Still, we have someone to go through those problems with and we really do love them. We can't wait to have a baby, but when that little bundle of joy arrives we find out that it comes with diapers and an urgent need to eat. And the vicious cycle begins!

Somehow, we find our dreams interrupted with screaming babies, sick children, old cars that need repairs, a mortgage that needs paying, roofs that need fixing, and...

we wonder what happened to our dreams.

They are still there. It's just that this world comes with troubles. Jesus will help us with these troubles, if we will let Him. It is true that it's hard to keep our focus on Him when these problems come calling, but these are the times we need Him the most.

And we need His peace.

Do you have that peace?

If not maybe it's because you are trying to live in your own place and be your own boss. The peace is in Christ not in the things of this world! If you have been feeling overcome by the troubles of this world lately, then welcome to the club! Now, why not do something about it and turn your life over to Jesus?

You don't know how, you say? That's why you are taking the time to study the Bible! The word of God has all of the answers - from how to get into Christ so that you can access His blessings, to how to walk in the light so that you can continue to have the peace that you so desperately crave.

Still wondering how to get that peace? Here's the answer:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:30, NIV

Today is day 29 of the commitment to study through the Bible in 90 days. Today's study is the 16th, 17th and 18th chapters of John. May God richly bless your efforts!
