Day 33: Baptism

With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized. The Apostle Peter (Acts 2:40-41, NIV)

The next step as revealed in God's plan of salvation is to be baptized. Perhaps no other command has been more misunderstood, or more resisted. Men try to explain the command away, they try to change its meaning, they ignore it, and sometimes they just flat out deny it. Regardless, the word of God clearly reveals the necessity of baptism. To deny any step in God's plan (be it grace, the shed blood of Jesus, faith or baptism) is to deny the entire plan. It is by accepting each command of God that we come to be saved, and salvation is the ultimate motivation of changing your life for God.  Are you saved? Are you sure?

This water represents baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience towards God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I Peter 3:21, NIV
