Day 13: Sacrifice

I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country. Nathan Hale (Final words prior to being hanged by the British)

Today is a fitting day to talk about sacrifice, as it is Memorial Day in America. In about an hour our small town of Happy will gather to do what many communities will be doing today - we will meet to remember and honor those who have paid the ultimate price in defense of our nation. Yesterday, I was privileged to meet with a group of like-minded Christians on the first day of the week. We gathered together to remember the true, ultimate sacrifice: The death of our Lord. When we have such memorial services, we can see the importance of sacrifice... but do we see the need in our own lives? The next step to changing your life is this: You must be willing to pay the price! The Christian life requires sacrifice. It is not suitable for anyone else.

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.
