What's A Righteous Man to Do? Part 3

Listen to me... the LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

II Chronicles 15:2, NIV

When it comes to answering the question of what a righteous man can do during times such as these, the answer is the same as it has always been: Turn to God. I know that sounds too simple, and perhaps even a bit trite to some, but no matter. It is true all the same. From the beginning of time God has promised His people that He will rescue them from all evil, but only on His terms.

We live in an era of fear. Turn on the TV or the radio or the internet, and the news is the same. The message from wicked men who seek control is no different than it has ever been. And, what is that message? It is a message of fear - you are going to die... you must fear... the people who seek power are your only hope.

What a load of nonsense!

Contrast the world's message of fear to the Lord's message. And what is that message? It is a message of hope - you are going to live forever... if you will fear God, you will not need to fear anything or anyone else... have courage and take the righteous stands that God requires you to take.

I believe that modern men have become so weak and fearful that they have become practically worthless. But it doesn't have to be that way. Righteous men and women have always found hope when they disregarded the manipulating messages of fear from men and listened instead to God. Consider these inspired words of encouragement from one of the most courageous men of all time - King David:

"I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalms 34:4, KJV

If you want to know what a righteous man is to do, there it is: Turn to God! It won't be easy, but when has anything worthwhile been anything but hard. Our nation is in peril. Even more serious - the Lord's church is in danger! What will we do about these dangers we face? The sad truth is that most will do nothing. Most people will be more than happy to let others solve the problem for them, but you are not most people! You would not be taking the time to read an article about righteousness if you were.

Righteous men and women throughout history have always had a moment when they realized that they had to take a stand for God. I believe that this is such a moment. Do you have what it takes? God has called you to live a life of hope and courage. It is a noble calling, but it must be done right. You don't need me or any other man to tell you what to do - God has already told us what is needed. But you will have to seek Him in order to find that answer. And the only place that answer can be found is in the pages of His Word.

Give us help from trouble; for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly... Psalms 60:11-12, KJV
