Day 21: An American Revival

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you...

Ezekiel 36:26, NIV

The purpose of all the prophets of God was to warn the people of the consequences of their sins. The hope was that they would repent - that they would turn away from their sins and come back to God. By doing so, God would purify them from the guilt of their sins and give them a new heart and a new spirit. In short, the prophets were calling for a revival.

I truly believe that America is in the beginnings of a revival of their own. People are beginning to see that their godless pursuit of pleasure has left them empty and unfulfilled. More and more people are seeing the consequences from chasing after drugs, illicit sex, and the almighty dollar. People are beginning to admit that their so-called right to choose when it comes to abortion is nothing more than the shedding of innocent blood. They are waking up to the ravages of debt and the consequences of their selfish pursuits and they have had enough.

We see hints of this revival in the return of Christian themed entertainment. People are flocking to see movies like War Room and Woodlawn which are encouraging people to leave their lives of sin and turn to God. People are calling on the politicians to stop their lies and deceit, to stop funneling money to their special interest groups and to start serving all Americans and not just the one who can benefit them.

People are starting to read their Bibles, to pray, and to worship on a regular basis. Because of this, more and more people are coming to realize that Jesus Christ really is the Son of God, to unashamedly confess that belief, to have their sins washed away in the pure waters of baptism and to raise to walk a new life. They are receiving in themselves a new heart and a new spirit. In short, they are experiencing a revival!

And they are loving what that revival is doing for themselves, for their families, for the Lord's church, and for the nation! Will the revival continue? Will it spread? Only you can answer that question... because this revival begins with you!

Are you taking part in the Revival? It will change your life!

Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.

Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed

and get a new heart and a new spirit.

Why will you die, O house of Israel?

For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Repent and live!

Ezekiel 18:30-32, NIV

Today is the 21st day of the 30 day challenge to read through the books of the prophets of God, with Ezekiel 31-40 being the reading for today. May God richly bless you as you turn to Him for the revival that He calls you to experience in your own life!
