Day 11: Restoring America

"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

King David, from Psalms 11:3, RSV

This is a question that righteous men and women should be asking themselves. We are seeing the horrifying results of a nation that has lost its foundation. God was removed from the public square in America. He was removed from the schools and replaced with a godless evolution and a generation of godless children have grown into godless adults because of that influence.... but that is not the root of the problem!

The church has lost its mooring. In many bodies of Christ we have rejected His authority and have replaced it with political correctness and popular opinion. In far too many places the church has become a weak, watered down version of what God intended for the holy body of His Son... but that's not the root of the problem.

The problem is that the individual has lost his foundation. No longer content to rest his eternal soul on Christ and Christ alone, the individual has become a perverse  combination of the world with a little bit of Christianity mixed in. As a result, we have produced masculine women and feminine men. We have confused the very biology that God had created us with. We have rejected His teachings on what is right and good and decent and have accepted the empty philosophies of men for our standard of holiness.

We have lost the one foundation that can work - Jesus Christ - and have replaced it with empty human logic. As a result, our nation sits idly by (often literally and on welfare) while our courts packed with activist judges disassemble the very Constitution that is supposed to be the law of our land. We watch as our school systems become factories of social engineering, rather than institutions of learning. Comparative scores in Math, English and Science prove that we are failing.

We have lost the privileges of the First Amendment, and are about to lose the protection of the Second. We are becoming a nation of litigious individuals who not only do not love their neighbors as themselves, but who are encouraged to sue them for what they have so that we can possess it. We allow grown men to share bathrooms with our wives and daughters, pay healthy people not to work, allow people to come into our nation who hate us and want our destruction and kill over a million babies a year because they get in our way.

What can the people do when they lose their Foundation? They can turn back to God or be destroyed. Let's turn back. That turning will have to be towards Christ! We can find out everything we need to know about Him in the Word of God.

This is why we read!

"Help, LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men... Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise", says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." And the words of the LORD are flawless... "O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever. The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men."

Psalms 12:1, 5-8, NIV

Today is day eleven of the 30 day challenge to read through the Old Testament books of Wisdom. May God richly bless you as you seek to restore the righteous foundation of Jesus Christ our Lord to your life!
