Day 28: God is Looking to Help
"The eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him."
II Chronicles 16:9, NIV
This may be one of the greatest revelations ever made: God is looking to help those who are fully committed to Him. The interesting thing is that it is made in the middle of a rebuke. Asa, who had been a faithful servant of God, was in trouble. Another nation threatened his kingdom. This had happened before, and when it did he had sought the help of the LORD, and the Lord had rescued him.
But this time when Asa was threatened, he turned to men for help. We don't know exactly why, but is is typical for some as they grow older to rely less and less on God and more and more on their own wisdom. So when Asa was threatened by another nation, he tried to pay an even bigger nation to help him. God sent the prophet Hanani to tell Asa that he was acting foolishly - that if he and Judah would just trust in God and commit their ways to Him, that God would provide the rescue.
And that's when Hanani revealed this great truth that has helped Godly men and women for all generations: God is looking to help!
Would that help your life?
"The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you."
II Chronicles 15:2, NIV
Today is the 28th day of the 30 day challenge to read through the books of the champions and the kings, with II Chronicles 16-22 being the readings for today. May God richly bless you as you seek Him through His word, and as your heart becomes fully committed to Him and His way!
