Day 20: You Are What You Do

The LORD warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and seers, "Turn from your evil ways..."

They rejected His decrees and the covenant He made with their fathers and the warnings He had given them.

They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless.

II Kings 17:14-15, NIV

Aren't we glad that we are not like Israel, following worthless idols and worthless pursuits? Why in our nation, we have worthwhile and noble pursuits. "Such as?", you might ask. Why things like homosexual marriage. Abortion on demand. Selling the body parts of unborn babies. Pornography. Our schools teaching our children theories of evolution without the Creator. Able bodied men and women on welfare. Outlawing prayer and the Bible in public places...

Aren't we glad that we are not like Israel, following worthless idols and worthless pursuits?

The Bible teaches that you are what you do. It was true during Israel's time. It is true during ours. How will it turn out for us? Only God knows, but here is how it turned out for Israel:

"They forsook all the commands of the LORD their God and made for themselves two idol casts in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal. They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire. They practiced divination and sorcery and sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.

So the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them from His presence."

II Kings 17:16-18, NIV

Today is day 20 of the 30 day challenge to read through the books of the champions and the kings, with II Kings 13-18 being the reading for today. May God richly bless you as you seek to know His will and to do the things that will allow you to become what He wants you to be!
