"Hear now, O Israel, the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you. Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you."

Deuteronomy 1:1-2, NIV

Did you see it? The secret to entering the promised land for the Israelites was to follow the word of God, exactly. That meant that God's word could not be tampered with in any way: They could not add to it, nor could they subtract from it. But their reward was tremendous: They got to enter into the Promised Land!

The interesting thing is that it is the same for us today. This is why we study!

Jesus put it this way:

"As for the person who hears My words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a Judge for the one who rejects Me and does not accept My words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father Who sent Me commanded Me what to say and how to say it.

I know that His command leads to eternal life.

John 12: 47-50, NIV

This is the 25th day of the thirty day challenge to read through the Books of Moses, with the reading for today consisting of Deuteronomy 1-6. May God richly bless your efforts as you seek His commands!
