Day 25: Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus

WE  NEED  A  GOAL  TO  AIM  FOR

"Therefore, holy brothers who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus..."

Hebrews 3:1, NIV

When the first man stepped onto the moon, it was not as a result of a random effort. First, it was a goal stated by President Kennedy that America would travel into space and land a manned rocket on the moon. Next, years of determined effort were needed to accomplish this worthy goal. Finally, a space craft was built, and its destination was fixed by computer. The space ship did not go to the part of the moon it did because it was randomly steered in that direction: It went where it went because its destination was predetermined and then "fixed" into its guidance mechanisms.

And a man walked on the moon!

It was an accomplishment that must have seemed impossible to my two sweet grandmothers, who were born in an era that was more like to the time of Abraham (at least in terms of technology) than it was to the space age of the mid 1960's.

We as servants of God are called to an even more incredible accomplishment: To walk in Heaven! To accomplish such an incredible feat will require much more than a random walk through life: It will require us to fix our eyes, our hearts, and our thoughts on Jesus.

Have you read your Bible today? The coordinates of Heaven are placed within its very pages!

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

Colossians 3:1-2, NIV

Today is the 25th day of the thirty day challenge to read through the New Testament, with II Timothy 3 through the 4th chapter of Hebrews being the reading for the day. May God richly bless your efforts as you set your hearts on Heaven!
